8/700bc-100bc | A settlement site. Pit 13 was dug into pit 14 and contained a human adult skeleton in addition to much animal bone. The body was crouched, completely articulated except for the skull which was c8-10cm above the cervical vertebrae. The body appeared to have been placed without grave goods in a partly filled pit, then covered with more domestic debris. Pottery (Iron Age B coarse wares) and other finds from the site date the burial to the 3rd-2nd Century BC. |
