2500bc-14/1300bc A large intact cinerary urn was found inverted over a quantity of charred human bones enveloped in a coarse cloth, and set in a pit c0.9m in diameter cut from the solid chalk. It was surrounded on all sides by blackish-grey ashes, and covered above with flints. About 1.8m from the urn centre were four further similar urned cremations, very broken, set in pits and the urns appearing about half the size of the first. There was no sign of any covering mound.
