3500bc - 2500bc | A shallow gravepit c0.9m deep containing the inhumation of an adult accompanied by crab remains, limpet shells and worked and unworked flakes in a grave fill of fine beach shingle. There appears to have been some disarticulation of the limbs prior to deposition as foot bones were found considerably higher in the fill than the tibia and fibula. The excavators dated the burial as Neolithic on grounds of flintwork and associated finds, but Worth 1937 casts doubts if without argument. |
