2500bc-14/1300bc | A group of mounds, none with burial deposits recorded, but several exhibiting signs of elaborate ritual activity possibly connected with cremation if the excavator's interpretation is accurate, involving cairns, pits with pot and artefact burial, brushwood and grass fires, and in particular notably elaborate arrangements of coloured pebbles especially of bluestone, and other stones. The pottery was identified as Early Bronze Age Beaker ware from one mound (Woodbury E). |
