2500bc-14/1300bc | A ring ditch enclosing an off-centre inhumation burial of two persons, one crouched, the other too disturbed by agricultural activity to determine the position. No grave goods were found in association, but a significant number of bird bones were found in the larynx area of the main burial, possibly a deposit as part of the rite. The body position suggested to the excavator that the burial was Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. (The nearby ring ditch had no burial deposit, but flint work of that period was found there). Another pit in the enclosure may have held a small cremation deposit. |
