100bc-AD43 | 8 or 9 inhumations in cists and earth graves found between 1858-1936 appear to represent a small burial ground used between the 1st and 3rd Centuries AD. One of these in a shale cist 1.1m x 0.3m x 0.6m deep appeared to belong to the earliest period, and was presumably a crouched inhumation oriented E, accompanied by a Class 1 bead-rim bowl by the head. |
