14/1300bc-8/700bc | A bowl barrow containing two primary crouched interments and other inhumations of uncertain date. Although the record is not very clear in parts, there were certainly three secondary cremations in inverted urns set 0.9m deep into the mound Of the urns, one was sub-biconical, one biconical with 2 lugs and 2 small perforated handles and containing a bone needle, and the third a cordoned biconical urn with 2 lugs, 2 rows of knobs, a raised cross on the base and containing a bronze bead. The mouth of the last urn was clay-plastered. There were also other plain and fragmentary urn cremations. A number of belemnites were scattered throughout the barrow mound. |
