2500bc-14/1300bc | A stone cairn with four retaining walls in concentric form, oriented SSE. A central chamber, and beside it a narrow stone-lined trench: in both were cremated remains and pieces of broken pots. In the chamber was a (dubious) whetstone, a spindle whorl, and some sherds amid slimy earth and stone mingled with ashy material possibly fallen in from above. Higher up in the cairn was a fine but empty cist 'of the more usual Bronze Age type'. |
