2500bc-14/1300bc A burial pit with the top of the sides coated with black carbonaceous clay, burnt red on its exposed surface. The walls and floor were not burnt. There was a heap of mixed black ash, charcoal and calcined human bone of one adult, two burnt seashells and some larger pieces of bone at the apex. The pit had possibly been covered with small shale slabs. The pit may have been originally a hearth, or a cremation pit, deepened then for the interment. It is possible that the cremation was just of the bones after excarnation. There were no datable objects.
