2500bc-14/1300bc | Barrow topped with red sandstone fragments and humus, over yellowish almost stone free soil. 1.8m south of the centre under a mound of stones was a cist 0.6m x 0.5m. There was no south wall to the cist which had a floor of crazy paving. There was a small amount of calcined human bone in the earthen fill of the cist, accompanied by a piece of a polished flint implement. Beneath the paved floor were unburnt (?)pig bones. Just west of the centre was an EW trench under a large horizontal stone, filled by a black layer of charcoal and flints (including implements), and some calcined possibly human bone . |
