2500bc-14/1300bc | A round barrow, twin of Site 368, with earthen core and a capping of rubble thickening to the base. There were two layers of burnt material in the barrow section, and a third thicker layer on the barrow floor over bedrock, burnt red by fire. Some black pottery and animal bone was found just above this possible pyre site. 177 flints were found in the barrow, but no human skeletal material. The flints included scrapers, arrow heads and borers. |
