2500bc-14/1300bc A round barrow with a turf mound constructed on a hard pan floor, except for the central area. Near the centre was a circular pit 0.3m in diameter x 0.6m deep which led into a narrow pipe in the lias rock. This pit was capped by an earth and clay dome 0.3m high and 0.35m wide at the base with a fill of dark earth and pebbles. The pit contained a similar fill on one side, and on the other a dense grey clay deliberately deposited. An artificial hollow was dug into the clay subsoil around the pit. There was no trace of burning, charcoal or other finds.

A circle of stakes predated the barrow mound, with their centre as the circular pit, and a radius of 7.5m very accurately measured. The stake holes were at varying distances apart, being closest and most regular to the south east. There was a possible entrance at the west. The stakes were removed for mound construction, or broken off, as some were above ground level when the barrow mound was made.

A diamond shaped cist of stone broke the stake circle in the south south east; it contained a Deverel-Rimbury type urn. The cist outer walls were set into the subsoil. There was a small central pit at the base containing a small stone and earthy deposit. Over this was a slab on which the urn was set upright. It contained the cremated bones of a probable male c20, clean of charcoal bar 4 pieces. Clayey soil filled the cist, with stones packed around the urn, and small inner cist walls were set on this clay. Cover slabs were set over the urn, and large slabs over the inner wall to seal the cist. The cist was integral to the stake circle.
