2500bc-14/1300bc | A disc barrow probably the location of one of the two grave groups reported by Hoare and referred to in Winterbourne Stoke 49 (Site 433). Re-excavation found skeletal material deliberately left by Cunnington, and a bronze awl at the base of the central grave, which was that of an adult c25. A regular stake circle enclosed other stake holes, mostly at the south east of the burial, with a possible south east entrance. In the west side of the ditch an adult human skull was discovered. |
