2500bc-14/1300bc | A bell barrow with stake structures on the barrow floor. A shallow central pit contained close packed cremated remains of an adult male probably placed originally in a bag. Ash covered this and a slotted pygmy vessel accompanying the burial. Earth filled the rest and chalk upcast formed a covering cairn. Some probable secondary use had been ploughed out. A Middle Bronze Age bucket sherd had been washed into the tertiary ditch silt. |
