3500bc - 2500bc | A long barrow oriented ENE, containing a pile of large flints over a contracted female skeleton, head oriented N, accompanied by a roughly chipped flint. 0.6m away under another pile of flints and on a flint pavement was a heap of imperfectly burnt bones accompanied by a flint, and contemporaneous with the first inhumation. This was a possible mortuary house structure with a platform cremation. A stratum of black earth covered the interments. Near the WNW end was a subsidiary primary deposit of three inhumations 0.45m above the floor. |
