Medieval tower in Via Bucimazza

The photographs taken during the demolition along Via Bucimazza show a medieval tower with a first-floor window. The window was framed by carved architectural fragments from the early medieval period. Adjoining it was a building described as a medieval oratorio (the precise location of the tower is in Lanciani 1893-1901, plate 28, photos are in the Album demolizioni 5/4, C 3223 in AFSRCM; see also Colini 2000, 90). A photo that Colini tentatively attributed to S. Omobono perhaps belongs to the straight back wall of this structure, which had a pediment decorated with carved cornices (AFSRCM, Album demolizioni 5/4, C 3185 e 3216).
