Description | The rhyton touches the head, cf. Boube-Piccot 1969, 220 Les Bronzes Antiques de Maroc I (Alcock) Henig and Paddock - base marked as Kingsholm so possibly from there. Figure stands on a small circular base. Mitten hand on right, left hand has fingers depicted. Quite a well executed piece with slightly more attention to detail of drapery at the front than the back. Fairly narrow folds - not the thicker folds of most provinicial pieces. Sash high on the waist, one end of which crosses the back, over the left shoulder, straight down the front and is tucked into the band, the end hangs down just below the waist. Casting flaw at the rear of the lower right leg and ankle. Stands with weight on right foot, left leg slightly to the rear is bent. |
