Description | The modelling of the body is realistic but subdued, with the general outline of the main muscle masses clearly shown. Other details, such as the eyes and nostrils have either been omitted or shown by linear decoration after casting; thus the mane is indicated by small crescentic stamps and the hair of the tail is incised. Between the ears is the crista, a ceremonial top-knot which is commonly seen on the great ornamental equine depictions (Gregory) |
