5.2 Buccheroid Impasto

The term Buccheroid Impasto is used in a loose way to indicate wares that fall between Bucchero and Impasto in their technique and finish. The forms are often the same as those made in Bucchero. The fabric is similar to the Bucchero above (Section 5.1) with silver mica, sand and lime inclusions but less well elutriated. The interior and exterior of the vessels are well polished but the fabric is not strongly reduced and the resulting colour is a strong dark brown rather than black.
