- FISHEN (Forum for Information Standards for Heritage in
England) is a group whose members participate in the creation,
development, identification and review of data standards. It also
forges links with other groups working on standards-related issues.

- MIDAS is a Manual and Data Standard for Monument
Inventories. It aims to provide a common format for monument-related
inventories, promote consistency, facilitate information exchange and
assist data migration. It is designed to be flexible, and does not
provide a specific data model.

- CIDOC Core Data Standard for Archaeological Sites and
Monuments defines 'the minimum categories of information required to
assess an archaeological site or monument, for planning, management,
academic or other purposes.'

- Dublin Core is a widely-used metadata framework for
describing documents. (The term 'document' in this sense can

- Aquarelle is an international project which has developed
protocols and software for sharing cultural heritage resources.

- The exeGesIS Sites and Monuments Records Database is a
user-friendly MIDAS-compliant database application intended for use by
SMRs. It incorporates the RCHME Thesaurus of Monument Types. It is a
modular system, with text, image and map management modules. The
software was developed by exeGesIS SDM.

- MONARCH is RCHME's Oracle-based database of information
on the architectural and archaeological heritage. MONARCH 'is very
broad in scope and covers archaeological sites, excavations and
archives, architectural monuments and maritime sites within England's
