The aim of the project has been to characterise the fabrics, found in the pottery assemblage selected from Deir 'Ain 'Abata, using thin section petrography and to relate these petrographic fabrics to the typology of the pottery (see Joyner in press, for more details). It was hoped that it might also be possible to suggest provenance/s for the pottery studied and to relate this to pottery production and consumption in the Late Antique period at Deir 'Ain 'Abata.
