Internet Archaeology is an independent, not-for-profit, fully refereed electronic journal for archaeology and publishes articles of a high academic standing which also try to utilise the potential of electronic publication.
Internet Archaeology is produced, edited and maintained by Judith Winters. It is hosted by the Department of Archaeology at the University of York and is directed by Professor Julian Richards (University of York) and Dr Michael Heyworth (Council for British Archaeology). The journal is also supported by an editorial Advisory Committee made up from representatives from the British Academy, the commercial archaeology sector, and a range of leading Universities from around the world, including Arizona, Cambridge, Flinders, Florence, Ghent, Glasgow, Leiden, Oxford, Penn State, Sydney and York.
Issues are published twice a year. The contents of the journal are archived with the Archaeology Data Service whose remit is the long-term preservation of digital research materials. No changes are made to articles post-publication. Internet Archaeology is a hybrid Open Access e-journal. Authors seeking information on enabling Open Access are directed to the journal's Editorial Policy.
