I have a BA in Archaeology from the University of Liverpool and an MSc in Archaeomaterials from the University of Sheffield. I embarked on PhD research at Sheffield (stone-working and the Peak District millstone quarries) and became a founding editor of assemblage. But less than 2 years in, a vacancy for Assistant Editor for Internet Archaeology was advertised and I chose to follow my developing interest in publication. I came to York to work with the then Managing Editor of the journal, Alan Vince. He left the role in June 1999 and I became Editor. The PhD fell and remains by the wayside!

As Editor, I

I also have some teaching responsibilities at the Archaeology department at York, as leader on the 'Working on the Web' module for students on the Archaeological Information Systems MSc and other postgraduates. Students can opt to do a placement with the journal.

I am originally from Northern Ireland but have made Yorkshire my home. Outside work, I like spending time with my 2 sons and husband, mountain biking and snowboarding.
