14/1300bc-8/700bc | A barrow containing a ring of granite blocks enclosing a bank of earth and stone c5.4m in diameter. In this mound material were beach pebbles including one artificially perforated. A rough inner wall 1.8m in diameter enclosed a central area ranged around in which were 10 separate deposits of pottery from biconical barrel and bucket urns, including 7 urns which had stood upright on the natural soil. The largest vessel had been placed on the W side, a large two-handled biconical urn which contained cremated human bones and a further smaller urn. This latter was a straight sided two handled cordoned urn containing ashes and human cremated bone, and two flint flakes including a possible strike-a-light. |
