8/700bc-100bc | A slate cist revealed by cliff erosion, oriented NS, 1.8m x 0.45m by 0.5m deep, containing an extended inhumation head to N, and a La Tene IB/II form bronze brooch near the head. Close to this were some much corroded iron fragments, including an iron brooch and possibly a bracelet. Near these and to the west against the side of the cist was an almost perfect shale bracelet of common Iron Age form. Accompanying the burial were also: 2 limpet shells and 6 large quartz pebbles, but these could have been sea-bourne. |
