100bc-AD43 | A single cremation burial whose surviving ashes represented 5% of the calcined bone of an adult c30-40. Two or three fragmentary limb bones of a small bird were also present, all calcined. There were these associated vessels: a butt beaker, a one-handled flagon, a terra nigra plate stamped NOVI[, a copy of a terra nigra dish, and a saucepan bowl with a bead rim containing the cremation. The vessels were probably set upright in the soil, except possibly that containing the cremation. The group is dated to cAD25-50. |
