100bc-AD43 A small flat grave cemetery poorly recorded when it was excavated 1886-90. There were three richer graves X, Y and Z, and six simpler graves A-F which were found arranged as a circle. There may have been 6-8 remaining burials reputedly arranged in one or more irregular circles, but the form of individual graves is not confirmed.

Burial X was of a large wooden bucket with iron bands and handle, apparently containing the cremated remains and 5 native pottery vessels.

Burial Y was a circular burial pit c1.05m deep, lined or coated with chalk. Calcined bones were contained in a bronze-bound yew or larchwood bucket with two cast bronze heads and one bronze band decorated with repousse ornament, the other more plain, along with 3 bronze brooches. Bronze oenochoe and patella, continental imports, lay outside the bucket with 4 pottery vessels.

Burial Z was of a bronze plated wooden tankard with bronze handles found at the centre of a grave 0.45m deep, the tankard probably containing the cremated remains. 5 or 6 pottery vessels were arranged in a circle around the central deposit, of which 3 have been reconstructed.

Burial A was a grave with a single cinerary urn.
Burial B was a grave associated with a bowl, an urn, and a flat dish, c3m from A.
Burial C was a grave with a single butt beaker, c0.9m from B.
Burial D was a grave with 2 bowls and a pedestal urn, c1.8m beyond C.
Burial E was a grave c1.8m deep containing a small jar and a larger bowl, c1.8m from D.
Burial F was a grave containing 2 jars, of which the smaller may have contained calcined bones, c1.35m from E, in the direction of A, to form the circle.

The other pottery vessels from the site are ungrouped, but are reputed to be from graves 0.6-9m in depth and large enough to hold 2-3 urns.

Pit 1 was 4m wide x 2.2m deep and entirely filled with animal bones.
