8/700bc-100bc | An Iron Age hill fort dated from pottery of the A2 series to the middle period, but containing a hut possibly of the later Belgic period. In Ditch I Layer III were two infant skeletons, one a foetus of c7 months term and the other a full term infant. Parts of a human cranium and a mandible were found in other places in ditches but not specified. The ditches were abandoned some time before the Roman period, and probably before the Iron Age B period was fully influential. |
