2500bc-14/1300bc | A circular pit c0.9m across x 0.3m deep containing a portion of the cremated remains of a male c35 on one side of the grave. In the fill was a quern rubber and over 80 sherds, flint tools and stones which were probably from a domestic site. Among these were 31 sherds representing 8 vessels including 3 Bell Beakers, a Beaker bowl (?), a small beaker or cup, a very large coarse beaker and another large beaker or storage jar. Several of the flint tools were freshly made, notably an arrow head and some scrapers, and may have been intended as grave goods. The domestic assemblage is unusual for a Bell Beaker grave. |
