100bc-AD43 | A cave deposit with unstratified animal and human fragmentary bones representing about 10 individuals from foetus to adult, Iron Age pottery with a Belgic form, Romano-British pottery, a shale bracelet and a bronze ring. These were recovered from the east part of the rift between boulders apparently derived from a higher level. This site is included on balance of probability that at least some of the remains are of this period, although it is evident from other recorded deposits of human remains that there was clear evidence for Romano-British burial deposits. |
