100bc-AD43 | A settlement site with a distinct pre-Belgic phase was also occupied in the Late Iron Age, and to this period is probably dated a cremation in a small pit beneath the crushed remains of an incomplete pottery vessel at the south foot of Wall 9a. The remains are probably those of a young male, and among them were fragments of animal bones of which only an unburnt molar of sheep was identifiable. |
