8/700bc-100bc | A fort built on Bronze Age occupation areas, and probably founded in the 4th Century BC. On Site A, immediately over the upper layer of debris in the quarry ditch, a possible hut was found, with a hearth, and all over the floor was a mass of human and animal bones, pottery, and charcoal. Human bone was found in a hut post hole, so probably was on the site before the hut was built. Pottery from the occupation layer on Site A was broadly of the Early/Mid Iron Age. |
