2500bc-14/1300bc | A grave c2.1m x 0.6m containing two inhumations, one at the foot of the other. The first was accompanied by a stone axe head by the skull. The second was somewhat disturbed, the skull resting on the thigh bone, almost as if it had been deposited anyhow. Close to the grave on the north side was a pit filled with dark soil which contained some fragments of charcoal. On the north west side was found a Bronze Age urn containing bones, set in a shallow hole. Other excavation work discovered the trace of a possible ditch, and the site may have been a ploughed out barrow. |
