2500bc-14/1300bc | A barrow opened in 1751 covered burnt bones and ash in a central cist c0.6m square and high, set in a pit. Two pots c0.6-1m away were inverted over small burned bones and ashes, placed on the clean yellow clay, then covered with 'black vegetable mould'. The barrow mound was observed to contain clay, mould, ashes, and rubble mixed randomly. A dagger was also found, in fragments near the middle of the barrow. |
