2500bc-14/1300bc | This barrow post dated sites 279 and 280 at Charmy Down (Barrows 3 and 4), or it formed a double barrow with Barrow 4 (Site 280). A cairn with a central 2-course stone ring, slightly to the north of the centre of which was a big oval cremation burial pit. The cremation remains were scanty and probably those of an immature individual. They were covered by small stones, covered in turn by earthy rubble. There were no associations. [Barrow 5]. |
