2500bc-14/1300bc | Bell barrow containing a small central cist set below the original turf line. The cist contained charcoal only, of oak, ash and hazel. There were sherds of cinerary urn in the mound. The cist was covered by an earthen dome shaped mound which showed indications of fire. That was covered by a stone cairn, under a turf mound. The mound had been enlarged in the late 18th Century AD and there was some human skeletal material in the top layer. There were some Beaker sherds in the ditch at the south side. |
