2500bc-14/1300bc | A small ditched bowl barrow. Near the centre there had been a cremation in situ shown by red and black scorch marks over an area 2.4m square. The bone fragments remaining belonged to a child. Scattered on the old land surface both on the cremation and outside it were 39 fragments of part of a collared urn: the act was done before the mound was built. There were pre-barrow occupation sherds of Windmill Hill ware, a small cup sherd and 3 Beaker sherds, all worn. [This is site F in Vatcher 1963, but without a Grinsell number]. |
