14/1300bc-8/700bc A bell barrow, with a causeway 6m wide through the ditch at the west south west. A chalky material capped the inner barrow mound which was of turves and topsoil. That covered a cairn containing a cremation in a pit just west south west of centre. In the surface of the pre-barrow soil were three stake holes just west of the cremation, and charcoal, pottery and animal bone. The cremation was of a (probably) female adult c30-40, accompanied by ashes and bucket urn sherds, and covered by a large inverted barrel urn. The base of the pit was covered by ash, burnt bone, and more bucket urn sherds. The upper pit fill was chalky soil. There were four deposits of animal bones (one of a complete sheep skull) just to the east of the cremation pit, on the old ground surface. On the west side of the cairn and pit was a scatter of 13 (?bucket urn) sherds, at the same level as that of the animal bones.
