2500bc-14/1300bc | A bowl barrow largely of earth with a chalk capping. At the centre was a rectangular pit oriented WNW/ESE containing an adult cremation with a bronze knife laid on top. An open wooden cist enclosed the cremation and wood ash and charcoal filled the gap between the pit wall and the wooden sides. The mound material contained 3 scraps of flint, and 1 large and several smaller flint flakes, all unburnt. |
