2500bc-14/1300bc A bowl barrow containing a (?) primary funeral pyre in the south east quadrant comprising stakes 'erected on the solid chalk to form the rectangular space which seemed to have contained logs of timber laid lengthways' (Hawley 1910, 619), mostly of oak with some ash. The pyre remains of ash and charred wood were about 2.1m high and contained a cremation with a Middle Bronze Age urn of dotted Vandyke pattern. The pyre must have been considerable and burnt for a long time, such was the mass of ash encountered. The mound had a 0.6m thick chalk capping.
14/1300bc-8/700bc There were 4 secondary cremations of the Late Bronze Age, three in urns east or south east of the barrow centre, set in the 0.6m thick chalk capping of the mound..
