2500bc-14/1300bc A bowl barrow with on the barrow floor remains of a cremation pit 1.8-2.1m long lined with wood, and abundant traces of cremation in the wood ashes and carbonised wooden planks lying on the surface. 1.2m above the floor was an adult cremation, the bones collected from the ashes and wrapped in a woven cloth and placed on a plank of wood 1.1m x 0.45m. In the middle of the heap of bone was a black flint knife. About 0.9m from this was a small food vessel. The mound comprised four distinct layers, descending from clay to clayey earth with 'river drift', to flinty earth and at the bottom clay with flint.
