2500bc-14/1300bc | A bowl barrow with mound of earthy rubble and some chalk, surrounded by a horseshoe shaped ditch with causeway to the NE. In the north west quadrant of the area enclosed by this ditch was a penannular palisade trench, entrance to the east. In the centre of the enclosed area was an adult cremation placed on the natural chalk, and north west of it a post hole. Some bones of a dog were also found. Outside of the causewayed entrance of this area was another cremation placed in a slight scoop. An ox radius had been split and each half placed symmetrically in the terminals of the palisade trench. A collared urn fragment was found in the barrow mound. |
