14/1300bc-8/700bc | A bowl barrow with a shallow scooped ditch and a mound of sandy turf. The ditch contained centrally at the west a greenish clay dome, an aquatic deposit containing 31 fresh water molluscs and two flints, with many worked and unworked flints deliberately grouped around it. A small pit had been dug at the barrow centre, and contained an upright barrel urn of Deverel-Rimbury type, and charred wood and cremated bones. A square stain beside this may have been a folded leather or cloth. |
