2500bc-14/1300bc A bowl barrow probably containing a central primary burial accompanied by a miniature Early Bronze Age collared urn. There were at least 5 secondary burials.

Grave 1 was 1m x 0.5m x 0.33m deep, oriented NS, the skeleton lying on its right side, crouched, head to N, probably an adult male c20-25.

Grave 3 was almost destroyed by Grave 2 [see 14/1300-8/700 bc]. It was c0.8m x 0.55m x 0.4m deep, oriented NS, roughly oval, and with a ledge c8cm wide by c10cm deep round the edge. The scanty remains of bone suggested the inhumation of a child c5-7.

Grave 4 was oriented NS and 0.45m x 0.4m deep (length unknown). The burial was probably of a female c30-35, head to S. The grave was cut transversely by the counterscarp of the circular ditch 0.8m from the head end.

Grave 5 was a small well cut oval depression in the surface of the natural chalk, outside and just north of the presumed line of the circular ditch, measuring 1m x 0.5m x 18cm deep. It was oriented EW and contained minute scraps of human bone, suggesting the grave of a very young child.
14/1300bc-8/700bc Grave 2 was a later insertion into the bowl barrow, 0.7m wide and 0.91m deep (length unknown), oriented NS, the skeleton of a (probable) adult male, head to S, on right side with legs flexed. The upper fill contained Early Iron Age potsherds of Marnian stylistic similarities, and the grave cut cut into Graves 1 and 3.
