2500bc-14/1300bc | A Class 1 henge with a single entrance in the SW, with 7 pairs of shallow post pits regularly spaced around the circumference of the enclosed area. The ditch had been recut and backfilled twice, the second time with pottery, flints and hazel nuts. Two cremations were placed in off centre positions, one of them comprising large fragments of burnt bone packed around an inverted collared urn of the Early Bronze Age, which itself contained cremated material. This had been deposited in a pit which showed signs of burning and was cut through wind-blown deposits sealing the site. |
