2500bc-14/1300bc A bowl barrow (Bushe-Fox II/Cunliffe 7) with a sand mound containing many worked flints deliberately introduced* and no central burial, but at least 7 presumed secondary burials in the western half of the mound. There were also 8 small pockets of burnt material in a tight group towards the eastern margin of the mound averaging 0.3m in diameter and 0.1-2m deep, and containing oak charcoal. At least three of the urns contained cremations, one that of an adult in a large biconical urn of Trevisker style set upright and accompanied by several flint flakes. Oak charcoal accompanied two of the urned cremations. Portions of collared urn and food vessels also were recovered from this barrow but not associated with cremations. [*The surrounding soil was bare of flint].
