2500bc-14/1300bc | A ring ditch possibly the remains of a round barrow, respected by an adjacent Anglo-Saxon cemetery. The ditch contained secondary Neolithic sherds in the lowest layers (Ebbsfleet, Peterborough), followed by Bronze Age and Early Iron Age sherds in the upper. No primary burial was found, but in the south west side of the ditch there was a secondary inhumation. A quarry had destroyed the southern one third of the site. |
