Competence area: Geophysics | Specific skill area: Resistivity

(The geophysicists might want to define the higher levels of competence in specific types of resistivity meter)

  1. Has heard and read about it, and perhaps been examined in it (equivalent of a first year undergraduate lecture course).
  2. Has taken part in a survey in the field, and helped interpret the results, as part of a team.
  3. Is competent to carry out a survey as team leader, and to interpret and write up the results.
  4. Is sufficiently experienced to teach others how to carry out surveys, perhaps after a specified number of years of experience, but is not at the 'cutting edge' of new approaches.
  5. Someone who is working on the principles and problems of interpretation, perhaps involved in the development of new machines, etc., and has an overall wider view of the subject.
