Area of the front of the bank excavated from the side of a machine-cut trench. The clay of the bank and the remains of the front turf revetment are revealed (right). The remains of the wall (period 2) are starting to emerge, covered with its destruction deposits. The wall and its destruction deposits are cut by the V-shaped palisade trench of period 4.
