Archivio Fotografico Sovraintendenza Roma Capitale - Monumenti (AFSRCM): The central photographic archive of the City of Rome pertaining to cultural heritage.
arcosolium: An arched niche containing a burial.
bipedales: Large, square bricks measuring two Roman feet on a side.
cappellaccio: A volcanic tufo found in several of Rome's hills and typically used as a construction material in the 6th and 5th centuries BCE.
cippus: An upright stone marker, often inscribed.
eye cups: Greek Attic pottery drinking vessels decorated with painted eyes on the body, widespread in the late 6th century.
oratorio: Small, chapel-like Christian cult place.
palmettes: Decorative motifs in the shape of palm leaves.
peperino: A hard volcanic tufo quarried in the hinterland of Rome.
peripteral: Having columns all around its perimeter.
pozzolana: A volcanic sand that was often used in Roman concrete.
sima: Roof molding of terracotta or stone that characterized Roman temples.
sovradipinta: A type of overpainted fineware
Sovraintendenza ai Beni Culturali di Roma Capitale: The office of the city of Rome's government that has responsibility for its entire cultural heritage.
tufo: A generic descriptor for a variety of volcanic rocks found in central Italy.
